What is fashion?

What is fashion in whole? 

A dictionary gave me this definition ‘a prevailing custom or style of dress, etiquette, socializing’. But I don’t think it is not exactly true. Fashion can be very different for different people. But one is for sure: it isn’t a synonym of a word ‘luxury’ and ‘label’. Of course, brands matter in our lives, especially in lives of people from fashion industry. But it isn’t the same thing.

Fashion comes from the streets! There are a lot of examples when a dress of a celebrity on the red carpet was created by a designer that was inspired by seeing an unusually dressed person on the street. It is like a fashion cycle. Clothes are created, someone combines it in interesting looks, a designer sees these looks, searching for inspiration, and creates new clothes. But every time these clothes is different and reviewed. 

They say fashion returns, but this returning is just a taking some traits of one or some epochs. New clothes are sewn with a modern view and new details. That is fashion.
